MUA Eye Primer VS e.l.f Cosmetics Eye Primer

Hey there!
How is everyone doing? Having a good week?
I have a day off today, so I thought I would take advantage of some free time and do some blogging!

This post will be about two eye lid primers that are very well known and very affordable! Therefore, for this reason I thought it would be a good idea to actually compare both of them!

e.l.f Cosmetics eyelid primer in sheer retails for £1.50, from their Essentials line, on their online store and the MUA eyelid primer retails for £2.50 on their online store.
The e.l.f Cosmetics eyelid primers do come in different shades, but I have the one in sheer because it's the most natural one.
The MUA eyelids primers only have the one shade. Which is fine, because eye lid primers are meant to bring out the colour of your eye shadows and make it last longer on your lids.
If you wish to also have a bit of a high lighted colour on your eye lids, then the e.l.f Cosmetics eye lid primers would be good because they have different shades of primers.

Ok, lets get started on the actual product!

They both have similar packaging. The applicators are both sponge like tips which is ideal and makes it easy to put it on your lids and you can control how much product you're putting on.

Both primers have a liquid substance. The difference here is that the MUA Primer has a more creamier substance which you do notice when it is applied on your lids.

When I finish applying the MUA Primer on my lid, you can feel it on you. However, with the e.l.f Primer, it goes on easier and blends in really well. It doesn't feel heavy on the lids or anything like that.
Another thing that I have noticed is that the MUA Primer creases a little bit, but I just rub it in again then apply the eye shadow. When applying the eye shadow, it's sometimes a little bit tough because of the "layer" of the creamy substance.
When the e.l.f Primer is applied, the skin of the eye lid is really smooth.

In terms of how long each of them makes eye shadow last on your lids, I would say they both have pretty good lasting power! But, I would say that the MUA Primer slightly lasts longer. More than 5 hours I would say. I would wear it to work and my eye shadow would still be on when I come home. I think that is due to the strong creamy substance.

I would choose to repurchase the MUA Primer because I feel it definitely helps to make my eye shadow last a really long time on my lids and that's what I want in a primer. The primers are only £1 apart in price. However, they are both good.

Hope you enjoyed the little comparison and found it a bit helpful. If you have any questions about these two products. Feel free to comment below.

Keep well ladies!

  2. Hey ;)

    Thanks for the post.
I noticed when I'm using the Sheer E.L.F primer, it does tend to crease my eyelid a little while applying but I must say that it has made my eyeshadow last quite a few hours (approx. 10 to 11 hours to be precise).

  4. I bought the ELF eyelid primer for my mum as her eyeshadow always seems to disappear within a few hours and it didn't really help that much! You're right, it isn't very creamy so I think I'll get the MUA one for her. Great review!
